To run a modern farm sustainably, we have harnessed the power of the sun. Living Dairies has installed a state-of-the-art 20kW solar power plant on our farm estate. This renewable energy system runs the entire farm’s electrical infrastructure during daytime hours, powering the automated milking lines, fans, ventilation, and cooling systems in our climate-controlled sheds.
By shifting our core day operations to clean solar power, we have drastically reduced our dependency on the national grid and cut our carbon footprint, ensuring that our fresh milk is processed with clean, green energy.
Water is the lifeblood of our crops and cows. To grow organic silage, green fodder, and keep our pastures lush, we rely on deep tubewells. Rather than consuming diesel or grid power, our wells are powered entirely by dedicated solar arrays.
This solar-powered irrigation system delivers hundreds of gallons of clean groundwater daily to our crops and drinking troughs, guaranteeing an uninterrupted water supply for our premium herd. It is an environmentally responsible approach to resource management that keeps our land green and operational costs low.
The health of our cows comes first. To monitor our premium herd, every cow is equipped with a smart tag for animal tracking. These tags allow us to monitor the animals and check their behavior, including eating habits, daily activity and behavior around other animals.
Our veterinary team can monitor activity levels, rumination cycles, body temperature, and early signs of discomfort. This allows us to detect health issues days before physical symptoms appear, ensuring swift preventative medical care, optimizing nutrition, and guaranteeing that only the healthiest cows produce milk for your table.
All our farm operations are integrated into a single, unified Farm Management Software platform. Every detail is logged digitally: from individual milk yield outputs per milking session, nutritionist feed ratios, breeding histories, to general operational logs.
This software allows our management board and veterinarian staff to make informed, data-driven decisions. By tracking trends and optimizing herd performance, we ensure consistent milk quality, minimize waste, and maintain absolute transparency in our supply chain from pasture to package.
When the initial founders started the farm, bringing investment into Pakistan for such an uncertain project seemed like nothing more than a dream. Many people believed that running a clean and transparent business was impossible, that profit margins in dairy farming were too low, and that dealing with village communities would be extremely challenging. However, the fellow directors remained committed and stood firm through every obstacle. What began with just a dozen cows has now grown into a herd of more than 250 cows, with around 100 cows becoming pregnant each year. In addition, the farm has crossed a major milestone by producing more than 1,000 liters of milk daily. Most importantly, the farm has maintained strong and healthy profits over the years. As a result, the business continues to hire more staff, offer better salaries, contribute more taxes to the government, and reinvest in improved technology and infrastructure. Above all, it provides ordinary people with clean, healthy, and reasonably priced milk without concerns about additives or quality issues.
Cows that were once valued at 1 lac in the books are now being sold for 4 lacs or more. With such a valuable and easily cashable asset base, the farm is in a strong financial position to raise capital if needed or to patiently wait for the annual herd growth of over 100 cows to mature and further increase profitability. What once started with just 12 cows is now on track to grow into a herd of 1,000 cows within the next five years. This is no longer just a dream, but a proven and highly promising business model.
It is not just the quick delivery that ensures milk reaches the market within 12 hours of milking. It is not only the advanced chillers and mixers from leading European brands, the skilled hands that carry out milking efficiently, or the strict filtration and regular quality tests. What truly sets us apart is our wholehearted commitment to quality and fresh milk. Every step of the milking process is carefully managed and given the attention it deserves. From providing cows with comfortable spaces to sleep and walk, continuous care by trained staff, and temperature-controlled sheds, to grouping similar herds together and ensuring feed quality and nutrient mixing are monitored by experts, every detail matters. The milk is also regularly tested to maintain the highest standards of quality. That is why our milk is always fresh, pure, and trustworthy.
With more than 20 years of operations and over 10 years of experience under a single Farm Manager, the farm has built a strong foundation of consistency, expertise, and trust. The directors personally conduct inspections every two weeks to ensure the highest standards are maintained across all operations. Spread across 4 acres of land dedicated to growing feed, the farm also embraces sustainable practices with a 20kW solar plant and a solar-powered tubewell. The farm achieves around 100 calvings annually and currently has 97 milking animals producing exceptional results. In the last month alone, the farm produced 25,000 liters of milk, while also selling around 25 animals every year. Some of the top-performing cows produce as much as 28 liters of milk daily, reflecting the farm’s focus on quality care, nutrition, and efficient management.
